Finally a break and sunshine.
For 12/28/08: We have seen the end of this latest system clear the area but a few scattered remnants will continue to hug the divide offering scattered snow showers. These will be widely scattered and we will enjoy at least partly sunny conditions all day.
Temperatures will warm starting today but a strong valley inversion will slow down that process for the lower elevations. We are already ahead of the game this morning with overnight lows in Crested Butte bottoming out at -3 degrees while Gunnison stayed above the 0 mark dropping to 2 degrees this morning. Daytime highs will hover in the teens at the valley floors while climbing to the 20’s at the higher elevations. This will be the trend through the beginning of the week but look for the inversion to mix clear of the area through Monday as a zonal pattern develops for the beginning of the week.
We are headed for a much more stable pattern through Wednesday with the sun actually expected to shine for a coupe days in a row. Our next chance at snow comes from a fast moving pacific system by Wednesday but until the we will see sunny skies.
