Another 12"+ with more coming.
For 12/23/08: The resort is reporting 18” of new snow today and Grand Junction radar is showing more on the way. This latest round of moisture has been good to us but the high winds that we have seen develop through the morning have pushed a large part of it clear of the area. We will continue to see snow through the better part of the day with some strong snow showers adding to the accumulation but we are on the down side of this round.
Temperatures have stayed moderate with the cold front associated with this northern trough staying to the other side of the divide. Crested Butte reported an overnight low of 16 degrees while Gunnison stayed at 19 degrees. We will see highs in the mid 20’s again but skies are expected to clear a little tonight which will allow for much colder overnight lows dropping to the negative single digits. Daytime highs will rebound to the 20’s again with that as a pretty consistent mark through the rest of the week.
Wednesday will be a day of transition with another strong system building into the area through Christmas. This next round has built some momentum and it looks like we will see heavy snow and high winds through Friday morning.
