And yet another strong snowmaker sets up.

We are seeing yet another strong pacific system pushing into the west today with snow already falling in the better part of our area. We are favored through this first shot with warmer southern moisture adding to the mix early creating good dynamics to get things started. We can expect snow through Wednesday in this first concerted wave with another blast building into the area for Christmas day. Temperatures will hover in the high teens but top out in the low 20’s valley wide as the warmer air from the south mixes with the cold from the north. Overnight lows were 12 degrees in Crested Butte last night and 10 in Gunnison. This will be a consistent trend while the heavy cloud cover and snow hold with tonight’s mix offering some good snow. Tuesday will offer more snow with the same temperatures expected to hold until Wednesday which will be our day of transition. The snow through this morning will bring sketchy driving conditions to the area with the mix of heavy snow and some gusting winds so leave plenty of time and plan accordingly as you start any holiday travel. We are looking at another solid winter storm here with about 18” likely by Wednesday and more through the end of the week.
