More pacific systems setting up in the west.
For 12/21/08: A brief gap between systems cleared skies overnight allowing for some cold overnight lows but the cloud cover that has filled in quickly kept it warmer than expected. Today will be a day of transition as yet another volley of pacific systems sets up to the west. Look for scattered snow showers mostly holding to the divide and higher terrain through today with another stronger system on tap into Monday.
Temperatures will settle into a groove through the better part of the week with daytime highs in the high teens and low 20’s with Crested Butte expected to see 21 degrees while Gunnison climbs a little higher to 24 degrees by this afternoon. Overnight lows will hover right around the 0 mark valley wide for tonight and through most of the week.
With another round of pacific systems on tap through the week it looks like we will see a chance of more heavy snow. Right now the best chances for real snow makers will come through Monday night and again on Christmas day. Take advantage of any sunny windows because it looks like the Colorado blue bird will remain an endangered beast through the next week.
