Another 8" on the resort and more on the way.

For 12/16/08: This looping low pressure trough that we saw build into the western weather pattern yesterday has cued up the area and we are seeing respectable dynamics and a fairly consistent flow of moisture. The resort is reporting another 8” overnight and regional radar has more moisture lifting from the southwest into our area.

Temperatures tell a lot about how this system has developed with super cold temperatures yesterday turning noticeably warmer into today. Crested Butte reported an overnight low of 10 degrees this morning and Gunnison dropped lower to 9 degrees but this is much warmer than the negative teens of yesterday. Highs will reach the 20’s valley wide with a comparably comfortable day in the forecast. The colder temperatures will coincide with fresh rounds of northern moisture being introduced to the area and by Wednesday night we will see another round of snow and temperatures dropping to the teens for highs and the single digits overnight.

The pattern is continuing to look good for us with a dirty flow of remnants stretching between the more organized systems and this will feed snow in varied degrees all the way into next weekend. Winter is getting a nice shot in the arm, definitely get out and enjoy the new snow.
