TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update:
For 12/12/08: We have seen some changes in the pattern through the end of the week with the weaker systems breaking up and it has left us with these partly to mostly sunny skies. We are still on track for the big systems this weekend but are winding up a bit more slowly than expected.
With little movement in the pattern this inversion is continuing to cap the lower valleys. Gunnison saw an overnight low of 0 while Crested Butte dropped to 6 degrees this morning in town. We will rebound to a high of 32 degrees in CB with Gunnison holding right about in check also topping out in the low to mid 30’s.
We can expect the front end of this next system setting up through the day with cloud cover increasing into tonight. High gusting winds will announce the real shift in the pattern through tomorrow morning with snow showers early turning to snow overnight. The big variable here is the timing with a strong jet stream moving this system in quickly but then stalling it through Sunday. The dynamics are there and it looks like we will have snow from Saturday afternoon all the way into next week but keep those fingers crossed and think snow.
