TV10 Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley Daily Weather Update:

For 11/27/08: All the components that have previously been mentioned that needed to fall into place for us to see a big snowmaker are not quite finding each other. That said, the regional radar is showing a fairly healthy stream of moisture lifting from the south into the Grand Junction area. As a result we will see snow through today and tonight just without the more dynamic components necessary to move us from the inches to feet category.

Temperatures will stay mild with a high of 36 degrees expected for Crested Butte while Gunnison reaches 40 degrees. Overnight lows have hardly moved overnight with Crested Butte reporting it’s low of 29 degrees at midnight while Gunnison stayed right at the same level. This is an indicator of the weaker dynamics of this first southern wave. These warm temperatures also open the door for some mixed precipitation for the lower valleys and this could really complicate travel so plan accordingly.

Our best chance at accumulation will come through today and tonight with the current flow putting us in the 5-8” category but we need something to get the snowfall started so do your snow dance and start cashing in some wishes.
